Colorado Springs, CO

Upon graduation from Colorado College, JD Feighner, purchased a large home in Colorado Springs and converted into a full working music studio. Our team of songwriters, singers, and producers follow the process of making a hit record from writing, arranging, producing, recording, mixing, and mastering.

The studios have been used to record artists and bands such as A Novel Form, Ten After Eight, Bodycast, Step To Every Pit, Mamzers Dream, YESSURR, Young Deuce, Elision, Habitual, and more. With 35+ high quality microphones plus an eclectic mix of mic pre-amps and outboard analogue compressors along with two fully tuned tracking rooms (dead and live) a very high quality sound can be achieved here for a lot less money.

The studio runs the following equipment for recording, mixing, and mastering:

ProTools HD 7 rig using a Digidesign control24 as its mixing interface

For monitoring :: JBL’s LSR 32’s and LSR 28’s

16 channels of high end digital converters

Apogee AD-16x with X-HD Card

16 Channel Analogue Submixer

Dangerous 2-BusLt

Protools 8 HD

Auto Tune Evo and Studio

“We tried for over seven months to record it ourselves,” says lead singer/songwriter Eastin, “but what we did just wasn’t working, so we ended up recording it at 1620 Studios with JD Feighner.” And the extra production seems to have paid off, as The Window glistens like a strand of finely polished indie rock pearls. Grab a copy at the show for just $5 or check out some of the songs at myspace.com/tangoredtapestry.

"Wine Swilling Troubadour" Selections for January 2009

Beginning this month, What’s Up With JD? will be adding tidbits about the trendy and newly discovered wines, as well as “not so trendy” budget wines (we are in a recession), he and his friends are enjoying these days.

So, here is the first installment of Tips from the “Wine Swilling Troubadour”:

During the more festive holiday season, JD enjoyed The Prisoner 2007 Meritage. This 2007 red wine blends 50% Zinfandel with 24% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Syrah, 9% Petite Sirah, 2% Charbono, and 1% Grenache for great complexity. From Orin Swift cellars, this wine goes for about $34/bottle; however, JD says, “I loved this hearty, full-bodied, fruity wine. It is so intensely decadent, you can’t possibly be bummed that you spent $30+ on a bottle of wine.” Ok, the holidays are over now, so, it is back to reality. There is a recession going on and everyone is on a budget…. (Don’t forget that JD is still a struggling rock musician—join our fanmail list, please!*) So, what is JD, et al, drinking now? A favorite budget wine is Vins Perrin’s La Veille Ferme Cote du Ventoux. It’s a simple, unpretentious red wine and can be found for $5-7/bottle. It is universally recognized to have one of the best quality-price ratios there is. JD’s opinion: “If you’re broke but want something decent, drink this. It won’t compromise your taste buds at all. And…an even better value is the $22 4L box–the spout keeps it fresh.”

*to join our fan list –use this link

“JD is a sophisticated, renaissance entertainer who can create a party by writing a new song on the spot, singing it, playing it on the piano or guitar .. and, in no time, the wine starts flowing!” --Nancy H, SongsAlive!
